Some people look back on Activision’s first Ghostbusters game with fondness, but let’s face it – if you’d fallen in love with the movie then this was a huge disappointment that deserved to be locked away for the rest of time in the containment unit. Players could take control of a naff imitation of the famed Ecto-1, complete with an implausible ghost vacuum for sucking up all those rogue ghosts just hanging around on the freeways, or spend a good 90% of the game traversing a map of the city as a giant version of the Ghostbuster logo, without actually accomplishing anything except pissing yourself off. Bustin’ always feels good, but believe us when we tell you – at times making this list, bustin’ was a real bust!ĭesigned by David Crane ( Bart vs the Space Mutants, Night Trap), the original Ghostbusters video game was actually written before the team behind it had actually seen the movie, which explains just why it is so … weird. With that in mind, we decided to take a look back at the history of the video game franchise, and trace its origins over the last 35 years. In fact, it can be argued that there has only ever been one decent Ghostbusters video game – released in 2009. The video game aspect of the franchise has never really enjoyed the success that other areas did. In November 2012, it was announced that Kylie would be made an official Ghostbuster in issues beginning in February 2013.Ever since the original movie busted its way onto screens back in 1984, the world has been crazy about everything Ghostbusters. She first appears in issue 5 in 2012 as the manager of Ray Stantz's occult book shop. Kylie reappears as a supporting character in IDW Publishing's Ghostbusters comic.
Kylie is widely regarded as the fan favorite of Extreme Ghostbusters. She was also the basis of several action figures from Trendmasters. As part of Extreme Ghostbusters, Kylie is featured in the video games Extreme Ghostbusters for the Game Boy Color, Extreme Ghostbusters: Code Ecto-1 for Game Boy Advance and Extreme Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Invasion for the PlayStation. Both are eccentric and socially awkward and they both had encounters with supernatural beings from their childhood (Egon met the Boogieman and Kylie's friend was taken by the Grundel). Kylie shares certain traits with Egon, such as knowledge of the supernatural. She becomes involved with the Ghostbusters after enrolling in Egon Spengler's course at City College of New York. She is appointed by the group to carry the ghost trap on her back.
Kylie Griffin (voiced by Tara Charendoff) was first introduced as one of the next generation of Ghostbusters in Extreme Ghostbusters.
